“The Movement of Becoming and the Stillness of Being”.
   quote by Christopher Allen

The inspiration for this artwork is my private collection of hand coloured Japanese postcards dating from 1900-1910. The Cinemagraph format consists of a two dimensional digital image that consist of still and moving objects. Three images are used:
The Greeting,  Engaged, and Observance.

Young Japanese girls dressed in kimono move and pause, the sequence repeats. The photographic image moving the viewer to experience the stillness of the figure through contrast with rhythm and repetition of movement. An experience of the movement of becoming and the stillness of being.
